How do I go about booking you?
We always try to get together with you before you book Jon, just so that we can meet & get to know each other. Hearing the wedding plans first hand from a couple is really valuable and we try my best to ensure that this happens. However, an increasing number of couples have booked us from overseas & we’re equally comfortable liaising via email, phone or Skype to get a brief for the day.
Once you’ve made the decision to book with us, we ask you to complete a booking form. This is an opportunity for you to list all the key people involved in the day, provide us with contact numbers, timings & venues. If you would like some formal shots, we ask you to list your requirements on the form. To confirm the booking, we need a signed copy of the booking form & a deposit of £500. This is then deducted from your final balance. The final balance will be invoiced to you 8 weeks before the wedding date & we ask for payment 6 weeks before the wedding.
Then what?
Lots of couples book us about a year in advance & so after the initial meeting & correspondence, things tend to go quiet. Rest assured, once the booking has been made & the deposit paid, it’s in the diary & secure! We will be in touch two months before the wedding with the final invoice & then we will contact you by telephone usually during the week leading up the wedding date to chat through things, confirm timings & so on. If you want to keep up to date with the work we’re doing throughout the planning stages of your weddings, find us on Facebook. Once you click the ‘Like’ button, you’ll be able to see our photographic commissions as they are shot. You can also check out our blog which showcases all our current projects.
Do you take formal pictures?
Yes. Although our style is documentary & couples book us for the relaxed look of our work, we usually get requests to take formal shots & we’re very happy to do them. However, we try to work through them quickly so that they don’t take up too much time. That’s why we ask for a list of shots you have in mind before the wedding so that we can work through them with minimum fuss.
Do you shoot digitally?
Yes, Jon uses two 35mm Canon digital cameras.
Do you work alone?
Jon is the photographer and prefers to work alone as it’s more discreet. It suits the style of the work, just watching & photographing what takes place, as it happens.
Do you photograph weddings throughout the UK?
Yes, we’re more than happy to travel to weddings, even overseas! The majority of the weddings we photograph take place in London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Travel expenses are included in weddings taking place within 50 miles of where we’re based (100 miles round trip). Additional mileage is charged at 45p per mile. We’re based in Wokingham, near Reading.
When & how do we view our photographs?
We produce a DVD of all your images for you to view. From a 4 hour wedding we provide 200 images in both colour & black & white. From a 6 hour wedding we provide 250 images & from an 8 hour wedding we provide 300 images.
From these final images you can produce your own prints &/or produce your own album. We supply all images in 3 sizes, small, medium & full size jpegs. All the images are in both colour & black & white, individually adjusted for colour balance, exposure and contrast.
Your online gallery is accessed via the Client Area of our website & we provide you & your guests with a username & password so that you can access it securely. Your gallery will be online for 2 months & will feature all your images (all with a number reference). Prints are available to buy.
You offer several packages based on time & give the option to buy albums. Do I need to confirm what I want at the time of booking?
Not at all. The great thing about the packages we offer is that you can change your mind! We often have couples booking Jon for 6 hours & then at the last minute they decide that they want him for 8 hours. That’s fine. We only work at one wedding a day & so you can have Jon for as long as you need him! Equally, if at the time of booking, budget doesn’t stretch to the album but in time you want one, that’s fine too. Come back to us when you’re ready.
What about copyright?
Once you receive the DVD of images you are free to produce prints & albums from the images for your personal use. However, the copyright to the images remains with Jon Bradley Photography. Potential clients like to view wedding collections & we will assume that you’re happy for your images to be used in the promotion of our business. If you’re not happy for us to do this, please let us know.
What is the file size of each image on the DVD?
The images on the final DVD are provided in 3 sizes:
- Full size image file size (measuring 4300 x 2900 pixels) for printing of approximately 14” x 10” prints at 300dpi, right up to a 30” x 20” print at 150dpi. This full sized image is resized & sharpened in Photoshop to give the following smaller sizes.
- 2250 x 1500 pixels. When printed at 300dpi this gives prints in the popular size 7.5” x 5”.
- The image is then resized further to 600 x 400 pixels at a size that is easy to email to friends & family for on screen viewing (this size will be produced in both colour & black & white).
How long have you been a photographer?
Jon’s been a photographer all his working life, so just over 20 years. He worked in Spain for a number of years, providing their magazines & media with images of everyone from visiting Hollywood stars to Spanish royalty. It was whilst in Spain that he developed his love of documentary-style photography & extensively photographed their many fiestas throughout the country. He’s been working in and around London for almost 20 years now & as well as shooting weddings throughout the UK, he works for a range of corporate clients, including L’Oreal, Givenchy, Moet et Chandon & Estee Lauder. Please take a look at our corporate website to see more of Jon’s work.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we have public liability insurance.
Have you ever missed a wedding?
Never! Jon’s been photographing weddings for over 7 years now and he’s not missed one. However, we do have a network of other professionals whose work we respect & so there wouldn’t be a problem.
Where are you based?
We live 35 miles outside of London, in Wokingham, Berkshire (just near Reading). We photograph weddings throughout London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire & the South. We’re more than happy to travel to anywhere in the UK for wedding photography.
